Responses from 211 male alcoholics hospitalized in 6 different Minnesota Treatment Centers to a 4T-item inventory containing attitudes toward drinking and drinking behavior were factor-analyzed. 12 factors describing the symptomatology of alcoholism were found. It was concluded that drinking attitudes and drinking behavior as measured by this inventory appear to be multidimensional and discriminate between alcoholic and non-alcoholic populations.
