Le TBS est un indice quantitatif qui reflète indirectement la microarchitecture osseuse. Il est calculé par un logiciel disponible sur les dernières générations des appareils de l’absorptiométrie de rayons X à double énergie (DXA), qui utilise les images du rachis lombaire. Plusieurs études ont émergé, emmenant des preuves scientifiques sur la corrélation du TBS avec l’âge, l’arthrose, la microarchitecture osseuse, le risque de fractures de fragilité et les ostéoporoses secondaires. En outre, les effets du traitement anti-ostéoporotique sur TBS ont été étudié enfin d’avoir la possibilité de l’intégrer dans le suivi thérapeutique. Notre objectif a été d’examiner les états de connaissance actuellement disponibles sur les aspects techniques, et les applications cliniques du TBS
TBS is a quantitative index that indirectly reflects bone microarchitecture. It is calculated by software available on the latest generations of dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) devices, which uses images of the lumbar spine. Several studies have emerged, bringing scientific evidence on the correlation of TBS with age, osteoarthritis, bone microarchitecture, the risk of fragility fractures and secondary osteoporosis. In addition, the effects of anti-osteoporotic therapy on TBS were studied to have the possibility of integrating it into monitoring responseto therapy. Our objective was to examine the current state of knowledge on the technical aspects and clinical applications of TBS.
