Lectura mística de Deuteronomi 4,24. Del «foc abrusador» del text masorètic al «foc consumidor de foc» del targum

Abstract

L’expressió hebrea «foc abrusador (אֵשׁ אֹכְלָה) apareix en el llibre del Deuteronomi com una metàfora que descriu la grandesa i la vitalitat aclaparadora de la divinitat (Dt 4,24; Dt 9,3). La tradició jueva desplegarà una lectura mística de l’expressió en comentar Dt 4,24. Així ho apreciem en el Talmud, en el midraix i també en el text novotestamentari de la Carta als Hebreus (He 12,29). De manera simultània, el targum palestinenc de Dt 4,24 tradueix «foc abrusador» per «foc consumidor de foc» per ressaltar aquesta lectura mística. Però, a més del targum, descobrim l’expressió en obres midràixiques (Pessiqtà Rabbatí, Pirqué de-Rabbí Elièzer, midraix Tanhumà, midraix Lèkaq Tob i Yalkut Ximoní), en el Talmud i les Tossafot, i, nogensmenys, en peces místiques (Hekhalot Zutarti, Maasé Mercabà, Xiür Qomà).
