Asociación entre la obesidad abdominal y la prevalencia de factores de riesgo cardiovascular en la ciudad de Cajamarca

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre la obesidad abdominal y la prevalencia de factores de riesgo cardiovascular en la ciudad de Cajamarca.Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal basado en una submuestra del estudio Tornasol II. La muestra corresponde a los mayores de 18 años de edad encuestados en el área urbana de la ciudad de Cajamarca. La presión arterial fue medida con manómetros de mercurio calibrados y la cintura con cinta métrica flexible.Resultados: La prevalencia de la obesidad abdominal según la OMS fue 49 %. Las personas con obesidad abdominal tienen mayor prevalencia de hipertensión (36,3 %) en relación a los no obesos que tienen una prevalencia de hipertensión de 13, 9 % siendo esta diferencias estadísticamente significativa (valor p<0,05), también las prevalencias de hipercolesterolemia se asoció significativamente (valor p<0,05) con la obesidad abdominal.Conclusión: La obesidad abdominal se asocia significativamente con los factores de riesgo como: hipertensión, hipercolesterolemia.
