Parques urbanos: espacios públicos

Abstract

Se analiza la relevancia que tienen los parques públicos en la conformación y vida de una ciudad, desde el punto de vista urbano y social. Los parques urbanos son parte del equipamiento que toda ciudad requiere para que sus habitantes puedan desarrollar su vida. El parque como área verde arbolada, juega un papel relevante para contribuir al mejoramiento de la calidad del aire y en los otros factores que integran las condiciones ambientales de una población. En este sentido, el indicador de metros cuadrados de área verde por habitante se vuelve un referente para evaluar las condiciones en que se encuentra una ciudad (de 10 a 15 metros cuadrados por habitante es una meta ideal a cumplir). Además de lo importante que es el papel de las áreas verdes para crear condiciones adecuadas en el medio ambiente urbano, existe otro aspecto igual de relevante en la vida urbana de los pobladores al ser considerado como espacio público, y es en este aspecto que hace hincapié el presente texto.
