For decades, Myanmar has been considered a hermetic country. Its great religious, ethnic and linguistic diversity, as well as its historical background, are fundamental variables that help us understand the reality of more than 57 million Burmese today. After a brief introduction to these variables, we will focus our attention on the events of the past year (October 2022–September 2023), briefly returning to the coup of February 2021, a situation that set the course for domestic politics, foreign relations, and economic development.
