This report intends to continue the Vietnam chapter from the previous yearbook. The author examines the country’s most important political and economic developments and its government’s principal international actions. This analysis is based on the premise that the adjustments made by the government in 2021–2022 and the regional context, mainly China’s “Zero Covid-19” policy, gave Vietnam a year of economic prosperity through manufacturing exports; the IMF’s outlook of 7% growth in 2022 is the highest in the entire Indo-Pacific region. The conclusions describe the results of this two-year comparison in order to determine if the government’s decisions have been assertive or if this economic boom is a by-product of the situation in China and the Russo-Ukrainian war.
