KOMPOSIT Al7Si–SiC DENGAN PERTAMBAHAN TiB MEMPENGARUHI STRUKTUR MIKRO

Abstract

Metal Matrix Composite Method (MMC) menjadi bahan pertimbangan setiap peneliti dalam melakukan pengecoran. Atau sering disebut dengan pencampuran matrik paduan dan matrik murni untuk menghasilkan bahan campuran yang lebih baik. Sifat aluminium yang ringan, tahan terhadap korosi serta mudah dibentuk, aluminium banyak dipergunakan untuk beberapa penelitian dan produksi, namun dari beberapa proses pengecoran banyak sekali kendala untuk pencampuran matrik Al dan beberapa matrik lainnya. Maka dalam penelitian ini penulis mencoba dengan Proses Stir Casting agar mendapat hasil yang homogen dalam pencampuran SiC dengan komposit Al7Si dengan diberi serbuk SiC dengan penambahan 5%, 7,5% dan 10% sebagai penguat. Serbuk SiC mempunyai sifat yang tidak homogen dengan permukaan SiC yang tidak bisa membasahi oleh matrik cair. Selain SiC sebagai penguat pada penelitian ini juga menambahkan TiB 1% yang berfungsi penghalus butir. Dari penelitian ini penulis melakukan beberapa pengujian untuk mengetahui hasil dari pencampuran matrik yang ada. Pengujian yang dilakukan stru ktur mikro, densitas, kekerasan dan potensial.
