Abstract

Ecoprinting sebuah teknik cetak dengan pewarnaan kain alami yang cukup sederhana namun dapat menghasilkan motif yang unik dan otentik. Prinsip pembuatannya ecoprinting adalah, melalui kontak langsung antara daun, bunga, batang atau bagian tubuh lain yang mengandung pigmen warna dengan media kain tertentu. dua teknik pewarnaan, yaitu teknik iron blanket dan teknik pounding. Dalam teknik iron blanket, langkah pertama yang dilakukan adalah mordanting (pembersihan kain dari kotoran). Proses mordanting ini sama saja seperti mencuci pakaian. sudah direndam dengan larutan cuka. Kemudian, gulung dengan pipa paralon lalu ikat dengan tali. Tahap terakhir, yaitu kukus kain yang telah diikat selama 2 jam. Dalam teknik pounding, proses dan cara pewarnaan kain sedikit berbeda dengan teknik iron blanket. Perbedaanya terletak pada dua tahap paling terakhir. Perbedaan pertama adalah pada teknik iron blanket menggulung kain menggunakan paralon untuk mengeluarkan warna daun pada kain, sedangkan pada teknik pounding memukul daun pada kain menggunakan palu kayu. Perbedaan kedua yaitu pada teknik iron blanket, pengeringan dilakukan dengan mengukus kain selama 2 jam, sedangkan pada teknik pounding proses pengeringan dilakukan dengan menjemur kain langsung di bawah sinar matahari.
