STUDI NILAI KALOR BRIKET CANGKANG KELAPA SAWIT SEBAGAI BAHAN BAKAR PADAT

Abstract

Sumber energi bahan bakar minyak yang digunakan saat ini mulai mengalami kekurangan pasokan bahan bakar, sehingga diperlukan adanya sumber energi alternatif dengan bahan baku terbarukan dan ramah lingkungan untuk mengantisipasi semakin menipisnya sumber bahan bakar minyak. Salah satunya adalah memanfaatkan energi biomassa dengan bahan baku limbah pertanian yang diolah menjadi briket. Bahan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu cangkang kelapa sawit dengan menggunakan bahan perekat tapioka yang akan diolah menjadi briket sebagai bahan bakar alternatif. Melalui proses pembuatan produk briket dengan variasi komposisi campuran yang diberikan sehingga dapat tercapai nilai kalor yang berkualitas. Hasil penelitian yang didapat nilai kalor briket cangkang kelapa sawit yang paling tinggi terdapat pada variasi campuran 80% : 20% yaitu 13428,5904 Kj/Kg, dan nilai kalor terendah terdapat pada variasi campuran 60% : 40% yaitu 9139,76928 Kj/Kg.
