Abstract

Infeksi merupakan penyakit yang paling umum menyebabkan tingginya angka kesakitan dan kematian. Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa merupakan bakteri yang dapat menimbulkan infeksi lokal maupun sistemik. Tujuan dari penelitian untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol daun kenikir terhadap Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa dan mengidentifikasi senyawa aktif yang bertanggung jawab terhadap aktivitas tersebut. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan menggunakan sokletasi menggunakan metanol pro analisis. Konsentrasi ekstrak yang digunakan adalah 2, 4, 6, dan 8 mg/disk. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi disk. Hasil uji menunjukkan adanya aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa pada konsentrasi 8 mg/disk dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 16,63 ± 0,50 mm dan 10,5 ± 0,5 mm. Identifikasi golongan senyawa metabolit sekunder daun kenikir menggunakan KLT dengan fase diam silika gel dan fase gerak etil asetat : asam asetat glasial : air (100:11:26 v/v/v), hasil menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun kenikir mengandung senyawa fenolik dan flavonoid. Identifikasi senyawa yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri dengan metode bioautografi kontak tidak menunjukkan adanya potensi antibakteri.
