Procurando compreender como se constrói a identidade de um professor de artes visuais, o que deve ensinar, como deve ensinar, encontramos algumas respostas que nos remetem para a influência da reprodução de modelos educativos. As diferentes realidades culturais, práticas e fundamentos ideológicos em distintos momentos da história, estabeleceram os ideais sobre o valor das artes visuais e sobre a educação, que acabam por configurar a atuação do professor nos tempos atuais.
