Complicaciones graves en pacientes de cirugía ortopédica

Abstract

<p style="text-align: justify;">La ortopedia constituye un vasto campo quirúrgico. Con una población que envejece y el aumento asociado en la prevalencia de enfermedad articular degenerativa, se están realizando más y más procedimientos ortopédicos, especialmente en el campo de reemplazo de la articulación. Las artroplastias conjuntas han ofrecido una mejora espectacular en la calidad de vida de millones de pacientes. Los riesgos son inherentes a todos los procedimientos quirúrgicos y los ortopédicos no son la excepción, sin embargo, durante el siglo 20, ha habido una reducción significativa en el número de complicaciones debido a la mejora de las técnicas estériles, uso profiláctico de antibióticos, movilización postoperatoria temprana del paciente, métodos de anticoagulación profiláctica y diseños mejorados de implantes. En este trabajo, se describirán las complicaciones más comunes en cirugía ortopédica con foco en su diagnóstico y tratamiento. Aunque la pérdida aguda de sangre es un problema frecuente, no se ha incluido en este capítulo, ya que no es específico para la cirugía ortopédica.</p>
