Abstract

Las enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles (ECNT) representan una de las principales causas de morbilidad y mortalidad en América Latina. Factores como el sedentarismo, la alimentación inadecuada y el tabaquismo contribuyen a su prevalencia. En este contexto, los programas de estilo de vida saludable han surgido como estrategias clave para la prevención y el control de estas enfermedades. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la efectividad de los programas de vida saludable como herramienta de control en el desarrollo de ECNT. Para metodología realizó un estudio documental narrativo de tipo descriptivo y explicativo, basado en una revisión exhaustiva de literatura en bases de datos científicas como PubMed, SciELO y Elsevier, además de informes de organismos oficiales como la OMS y OPS. Se incluyen artículos publicados entre 2019 y 2024, en español, inglés y portugués. Los resultados evidenciaron una alta prevalencia de ECNT en América Latina, destacando la hipertensión arterial, obesidad y diabetes mellitus tipo II. En Ecuador, Chile y Perú, se registraron las cifras más elevadas. Asimismo, se identifican diversas intervenciones basadas en la promoción de la actividad física, dietas saludables y estrategias comunitarias, con impacto positivo en la reducción de factores de riesgo. Se concluye que los programas de estilo de vida saludable son herramientas efectivas en la prevención de ECNT, pero requieren un enfoque integral y políticas públicas que favorezcan su implementación sostenida a nivel comunitario.
