Abstract

 En las últimas décadas ha aumentado significativamente el uso del plástico y el caucho en el sector cuero, calzado y marroquinería, estableciéndose una relación de interdependencia entre ambas actividades económicas. Este trabajo presenta un estudio prospectivo para la industria del plástico y el caucho que provee al sector cuero, calzado y marroquinería, dado que este tipo de estudios han sido reconocidos como referentes válidos para que empresas, gremios, centros de investigación y entes gubernamentales diseñen sus planes de acción. Los expertos consultados representan a entidades nacionales e internacionales, se aplicó la metodología Delphi y análisis estructural para identificar los principales factores que serán claves para el éxito del sector plástico y caucho relacionado con la industria del cuero, calzado y marroquinería. En total se identificaron veintiséis factores claves de éxito, agrupados en siete estrategias transversales; destacándose la calificación del personal, el desarrollo tecnológico en lo relacionado con materiales y procesos de manufactura y la modernización organizacional, como las tres estrategias transversales con mayor impacto en el futuro de la industria del plástico y el caucho. Durante el proceso de obtención y análisis de la información se encontraron aspectos que se deben tener en cuenta en este tipo de estudios, resaltando además que los factores más citados por los expertos no coinciden con los identificados en el análisis prospectivo como claves para el éxito del sector.
