The transmission of optical power through an optical fiber is, in principle, non-linear. Intersymbol Interference in digital fiber optic communication systems has been investigated by simulating “eye diagrams”. This has been performed for several types of filters on a non-linear fiber optic channel with emphasis on lower bit error rates.
