Abstract

En 1992 se produce el alumbramiento de los imaginarios urbanos. En su obra homónima, Armando Silva se pregunta ¿qué es ser urbano en nuestras sociedades de América Latina? Unos años más tarde, Néstor García Canclini también captará en los imaginarios urbanos una clave de inteligibilidad para el doble proceso de transición que atraviesa la ciudad latinoamericana. Este proceso estaría definido por el pasaje de las ciudades a megaciudades y de la cultura urbana a la multiculturalidad (García Canclini, 1997, p. 77). En el marco de incertidumbre y complejidad que se expresa en las ciudades contemporáneas, los imaginarios permitirían “estabilizar nuestras experiencias urbanas en constante transición” (García Canclini, 1997, p. 93)...
