I therefore hope that this attempt at a frankly selective bibliography with brief commentaries will prove useful. The bibliography is limited to Czech (not including Slovakian) literature about music from the years 1945-1958; those works available in foreignlanguage translations are not represented. As a matter of practical convenience, the bibliography as a whole has been subdivided into smaller and more easily surveyed subject categories, with numbers in the introductory commentaries referring to entries in the lists that follow.
