Abstract

L'etude de la culture des groupes autochtones wici de la province de Formosa en Argentine met en evidence trois domaines de pratique musicale distincts : 1. survivance de manifestations musicales liees au chamanisme et aux rituels de seduction a la frange des pratiques et conceptions musicales importees par les missionnaires ; 2. chants d'origine anglicane au sein de la pratique religieuse protestante introduite au debut du siecle par les britanniques, qui se situent a l'antipode de la musique traditionnelle ; 3. repertoire de chants a thematique biblique, musicalement ecclectique incorporant les genres traditionnels locaux a ceux d'autres regions d'Amerique, pratique dans les rituels des eglises evangelistes d'origine pentecotiste. L'analyse comparative de ces trois domaines musicaux, compte tenu que nombre d'acteurs sociaux ont migre d'un domaine a l'autre, permet de souligner des divergences et convergences sur le plan musical et ideologique. Cette etude s'interesse plus particulierement au cas des chamanes convertis a l'evangelisme qui pratiquent leurs rituels therapeutiques au sein de l'Eglise Evangeliste Unie (IEU), mouvement religieux dirige presque exclusivement par des autochtones
