A Preliminary Report of the Excavations at Knidos, 1971

Abstract

The fifth campaign of excavations at Knidos sponsored by Long Island University was conducted for eight weeks during the summer of 1971. Excavation was continued at the Doric stoa, the Lower Theater, the residential quarter E of stepped street seven, the so-called Temple of Dionysos/ Byzantine Church "C," street junction A, the monopteros of Aphrodite Euploia, and the terraces below the monopteros. We began the investigation of two new areas: a site NE Of the Trireme Harbor, and the Temenos of Demeter.
