Manabush is the creator god of our people (the Bois Fort Chippewas). Soon after his birth his parents were both killed by.a clan of sea lions. After their death he lived with his grandmother till he became of age. He then decided to go out and avenge the death of his parents. The sea monsters who had killed them lived on an island. This was first surrounded by water for a short distance.
