R ECREATION-this is a word which embraces our many an var ed leisure hour activities. It encompasses trips to movies after a day's work, a ride in the car, a week end spent boating, fishing, playing tennis or golf. All these things we enjoy doing. Why? An evening at a serious game of bridge could require as much concentration and thought as a business problem. It is the "how" we do it, the "when," and "with whom" that makes the difference! As we grow with the years, our scope of leisure enjoyment changes, as does our capacity. A once active amateur soloist musician may become either a member of a performing group or a passive participant, a listener who as a member of the audience, stimulates the group to greater appreciation of music. An avid tennis player (since we are not all like the late Royal Gustav) will gradually find himself on the club's committee for arrangements where he contributes his knowledge of the game to others, and also derives pleasure for himself. This same plan can be extended to most recreational fields. Time may reduce our physical capacities, but need not reduce our ability to enjoy, and to create mentally.
