Errors in Giving Medication

Abstract

inform the pilot and have him deliver the message via the aircraft radio to the nearest appropriate ground radio facility, indicating the emergency or urgent nature of the message. Occasionally, the air force is called on to transport civilian patients. In these instances the personnel at the hospital, which is the patient's destination, should be informed about the equipment they should bring to the airfield. If, however, they are unable to obtain the necessary equipment, the flight nurse may release air force property temporarily. Authorization to transport a civilian must be obtained from the Surgeon General of the United States Air Force. At the termination of the flight, the plane is again sprayed with an aerosol bomb. The pilot, as aircraft commander, fills out records, stating that the disinsectization procedures have been carried out. The flight nurse is largely responsible for the successful transportation of the patient in a respirator. She must keep the patient comfortable and in good condition throughout the flight. Relying on her knowledge of aviation physiology, she may anticipate and prevent problems before they arise. BIBLIOGRAPHY
