Aging is a life process. Even with the greatest precautions, wear and tear upon the human physiology are inevitable. Accompanying that wear and tear comes a series of adaptations which permit us to survive. Some of these adaptations will result in diminished functional capacities: a loss of visual acuity, a slowing of our reflexes, a reduction in our agility. Other adaptations may result for many of us in the disease patterns of chronic illness.
