Abstract

del pesimismo de Baroja. El pesimismo de detalles es distinto al pesimismo del espiritu de un libro. En La busca hay una funesta galeria de cuadros de la vida madrilefia: petardos, robos, asesinatos, compra-venta de mujeres, abandono de nifios, hambre, frio, pobreza, bajeza y crueldad. Sin embargo, la idea principal-una idea que contrasta con ese ambiente sombrio-se pregona en las palabras de Roberto Hasting: "Si quieres hacer algo en la vida, no creas en la palabra imposible. Nada hay imposible para una voluntad endrgica." Este credo de la voluntad se reafirma en el iltimo ptrrafo del libro: Manuel decide que 61 debe ser de los "que trabajan al sol, no de los que buscan el placer en la sombra."
