Christianity has been swaying the continent of Africa since the latter half of the nineteenth century. It ministered to a gigantic continent of subject peoples who had been forced into a position of second-rate citizenship. But now Christianity finds itself ministering to a continent that is being swayed, during the latter half of the twentieth Century, by African nationalism, which has gripped the imagination of many millions of Africans. What is to be the attitude of African nationalism to Christianity and, conversely, what is to be the attitude of Christianity to African nationalism?
