W artykule podjęto problem oceny sytuacji polskiego przemysłu spożywczego na tle tendencji ogólnoekonomicznych w okresie 2006-2010. Dokonano oceny oddziaływania kryzysu finansowego w badanym okresie na sytuację sektora na podstawie zmian wybranych wskaźników rentowności. Podjęto dyskusję z tezą, że sektor ten jest względnie odporny na zjawiska kryzysowe występujące w świecie.
