Alineadores invisibles y uso de sustancias sanitizantes: análisis de topografía superficial y citotoxicidad

Abstract

Objetivos. Evaluar la citotoxicidad y el efecto de las soluciones desinfectantes sobre la topografía de la superficie de los alineadores Invisalign. Métodos. Los especímenes fueron obtenidos de alineadores invisibles nunca usados, con n=10 para análisis de rugosidad y n=12 para citotoxicidad (con un power del 80%). Para el análisis de rugosidad, cada grupo se sumergió en una sustancia, a saber: gluconato de clorhexidina, hipoclorito de sodio, perborato de sodio, ácido ortofosfórico y solución salina (control). Las inmersiones duraron 20 minutos, excepto el ácido ortofosfórico que se cepilló durante 15 segundos y se lavó con agua corriente (según las instrucciones del fabricante). Las muestras se analizaron 7 y 15 días después, utilizando un perfilómetro óptico digital. Se evaluó la citotoxicidad sobre queratinocitos humanos (HaCaT), sometidos al contacto con el alineador sin impregnación de ninguna sustancia. Las células se sometieron a la prueba de viabilidad celular (MTT). El diseño estadístico se obtuvo por el método ANOVA, complementado por Tukey (p<0.05%). Resultados. El linaje HaCaT obtuvo una reducción del 48.8% en la viabilidad después del contacto con Invisalign durante 24 horas, la rugosidad evaluada en 7 días tuvo el hipoclorito y el ácido ortofosfórico similar y a los 15 días los grupos mostraron rugosidad similar. Conclusiones. Invisalign no demostró citotoxicidad en el linaje HaCaT y no hay diferencia en la rugosidad con el uso continuo de sustancias.
