Abstract

Este trabajo intenta comprobar la conclusión obtenida por los investigadores (Wadud, A., & White, B. ,2000) a través de una metodología diferente que se apoya en la elaboración de modelos de frontera estocástica y compararlos con los obtenidos en modelos de Análisis de Envolvente de Datos. Para ello, los autores han realizado una investigación en el sector silvo pastoril del nordeste argentino elaborando modelos determinísticos y estocásticos y se ha asumido que la frontera de producción es acertadamente representada por la función matemática denominada translog. Se ha demostrado que tanto los modelos de retorno de escala variable como los correspondientes a los modelos de retorno de escala constante exhiben mayor variabili-dad que las medidas de las fronteras estocásticas.
