Profundidad financiera: Identificando disparidades regionales

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this study is to determine how banking depth and regional inequalities have evolved in Chile, over the period 2001 to 2011, using indicators associated with financial products and/or services; furthermore, to identify the relationship between socioeconomic variables and regional levels of depth, using lineal correlations. The results obtained reflect that financial depth has evolved positively, although to a different magnitude in the regions; significant disparities are presented among regions and socioeconomic variables are identified showing a direct or inverse relationship with bankarisation. The aforementioned leads us to presume that regional disparities are influenced by the effects of certain socioeconomic variables.
