Abstract

EAMI, el cuarto largometraje de Paz Encina, recupera el interés ético de la directora paraguaya en la construcción de una memoria ya presente en sus películas previas, pero asume aquí una cosmopolítica que redefine las relaciones entre humanos y no humanos. En sus modos de dar cuenta del avance extractivista, el despojo territorial y el exterminio del mundo ayoreo, EAMI problematiza la dicotomía entre ficción y documental no solo porque los testimonios y las recreaciones que pone en escena hablan la lengua de esa comunidad, sino porque se ajustan a su cosmovisión, su comprensión del tiempo y del espacio. A partir de estudios sobre nuevos materialismos y afecto, las reflexiones sobre ontologías amerindias y la antropología visual, este ensayo busca discutir sobre los modos en que este documental Paz Encina rearticula el orden de lo sensible para delimitar el orden de lo que importa. Si la decapitación de la floresta es también la de sus formas comunes de entendimiento, el acto de memoria de EAMI busca crear una atmósfera sensorial y una temporalidad que haga posible ampliar la audiencia para ese duelo. Desde la puesta en escena, Encina asume la denuncia de los ayoreo e intenta doblegar nuestra (in)sensibilidad de coñone (el término con el que esa comunidad se refiere a todos los forasteros como “los insensibles”) para hacernos partícipes del sufrimiento de un pueblo otro.
