Abstract

Resumo: O presente estudo tem por objetivo descrever e analisar dinâmicas específicas das redes de tráfico ilegal de orientais negros escravizados em solo brasileiro, que atuavam em meados do século XIX. O foco da investigação se concentra em casos de indivíduos que foram retiradas do território uruguaio e conduzidas à capital imperial brasileira. O texto também se propõe a explorar vieses característicos das ações das vítimas e de seus principais defensores legais, as autoridades consulares e diplomáticas da República uruguaia no Brasil. Palavras-chave: Escravizações ilegais. Tráfico escravo. Brasil-Uruguai. Abstract: The present study aims to describe and analyze specific dynamics of the illegal trafficking networks of black orientals enslaved on Brazilian soil, which operated in the mid-nineteenth century. The focus of the investigation focuses on cases of individuals who were removed from Uruguayan territory and taken to the Brazilian imperial capital. The text also proposes to explore biases characteristic of the victims' actions and of their main legal defenders, the consular and diplomatic authorities of the Uruguayan Republic in Brazil.
