Las relaciones entre ambas es compleja, y a veces poco clara. Sin embargo, se puede decir que la propiedad industrial se rige por las disposiciones de la competencia económica cuando la primera va más allá de la protección a tales derechos, tal como lo señala el artículo 5o. de la Ley Federal de Competencia Económica.
