Abstract

A principios de la década de los noventa se desató una vorágine de trabajos académicos que tenían por objeto medir la contribución del crédito bancario al crecimiento económico.1 A pesar de las múltiples discusiones que se han dado en torno a las metodologías ahí utilizadas, a estas alturas hay un relativo consenso en la literatura económica respecto a que un mayor desarrollo financiero contribuye a un mayor crecimiento económico.
