Abstract

¿Han cambiado las construcciones sociales sobre la vejez en general y la vejez femenina en particular? ¿En qué condiciones envejecían y envejecen las mujeres en México? Los textos contenidos en este libro se acercan a veces aisladamente y en ocasiones puntual y expresamente a dar respuesta a estos y otros interrogantes. Desde el análisis del lenguaje cinematográfico, y el discurso de las mujeres mayores en la literatura de María Luisa Puga, Rosario Castellanos y Elena Garro, así como desde la historia oral y de vida cotidiana se presentan algunas pistas; pero también se abordan la calidad de vida y la salud, la inseguridad económica en la vejez, así como la feminización del cuidado, y la violencia a partir de la reconstrucción de historias de vida. Los citados capítulos fueron seleccionados después de la participación de sus autores en el III Congreso Nacional de Estudios de Género en Humanidades celebrado en la ciudad de Tlaxcala en marzo de 2015 y organizado por la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala.
