El comercio exterior, la protoindustria y América Latina en el siglo XIX

Abstract

El ensayo expone bajo una perspectiva global el desenvolvimiento productivo de regiones protoindustriales en función de las principales influencias en la organización socioeconómica a escala regional y local en América Latina. Se argumenta cómo estos impactos marcaron los procesos de industrialización latinoamericanos en el siglo XIX. El texto se divide en cuatro partes: 1) se hacen algunas referencias teórico-metodológicas para explicar el origen y la naturaleza de los impactos derivados de las regiones protoindustriales en lo local y regional; 2) se amplían las evidencias empíricas que explican las articulaciones entre comercio exterior y sistemas productivos locales, nos apoyamos básicamente en el caso del centro-occidente de México; 3) se explica en qué consistió la reorganización de las relaciones económicas que impulsaron este tipo de dinámica; y 4) ofrecemos una interpretación histórica sobre las articulaciones entre comercio exterior y crecimiento económico desde la tradición de los estudios protoindustriales de segunda generación.
