Estabilidad del rendimiento y calidad de fruto en poblaciones avanzadas de ahuyama en el Caribe colombiano

Abstract

Con el fin de seleccionar poblaciones de ahuyama (Cucurbita moschata Duchesne ex lam.) candidatas a ser registradas como nuevos cultivares mejorados, se estableció la evaluación multilocal para la Subregión natural Caribe en cuatro localidades. Para ello, se empleó un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar con cuatro repeticiones. Se evaluaron ocho genotipos; siete de ellos correspondieron a poblaciones promisorias del Programa de Mejoramiento Genético de Agrosavia, más un testigo (cultivar regional de productores). Como variables respuestas se consideraron el rendimiento y la calidad de fruto (externa e interna). El análisis de estabilidad fenotípica del rendimiento se realizó mediante las metodologías de Eberhart y Russell, Lin y Binns y AMMI. Los resultados respaldan la selección de la población SRFC2 como genotipo apto para ser registrado como nuevo cultivar para la Subregión natural Caribe, al expresar rendimientos superiores al testigo comercial (19,9 t·ha-1), estabilidad fenotípica para los ambientes evaluados y atributos de calidad de fruto externa (formato tipo pastelito: 95%; peso: 2,1 kg) e interna (diámetro de cavidad placentaria = 109 mm; grosor de pulpa = 39 mm, porcentaje de pulpa = 41%, materia seca de pulpa = 11,5% y color de pulpa naranja intermedio) acordes a los requerimientos del mercado de consumo fresco regional.
