FAMILIA HYDROCHARITACEAE

Abstract

Familia cosmopolita de aproximadamente 16 géneros y 118 especies, especialmente de ambientes dulceacuícolas o marinos de zonas tropicales o subtropicales, con pocas especies de regiones templadas. Algunas son consideradas plagas acuáticas, mientras que otras son empleadas como plantas ornamentales para acuario. En México existen siete géneros, dos de los cuales están representados en el área de esta región.
