Abstract

La familia comprende unos 14 géneros con 200 a 250 especies principalmente americanas. Algunas se cultivan como ornamentales. Varios de sus representantes que habitan en la zona de nuestro estudio, reciben los sugestivos nombres comunes de “pegadora”, “pegajosa”, “pegarropa” y otros parecidos, ya que sus hojas se adhieren en forma muy tenaz a algunas superficies, en especial al pelo de los animales y a la ropa. Klaprothia fasciculata (K. Presl) Poston (=Sclerothrix fasciculata K. Presl) es una planta que se registra de México a Sudamérica. De aspecto bastante especial, se distingue fácilmente de las loasáceas que se describen por ser mucho menos áspera y pegajosa, por tener hojas opuestas y flores tetrámeras de menos de 4 mm de largo. Su esparcida distribución en el país se manifiesta por escasas colectas de lugares distantes entre sí, tanto de la vertiente pacífica como de la atlántica. No es imposible que estuviera representada en algún sitio del bosque tropical caducifolio del área de esta Flora.
