In Mexico, studies of parasites of wild canids are incidental. We present the results of a necropsy of a road-killed male coyote found near Queretaro City, Mexico. No metazoans parasites were collected in the digestive tract, lungs or internal cavity, yet, we collected 40 nematodes of Dirofilaria immitis or heartworms. This scientific note is the first record of Dirofilaria immitis in coyotes of Mexico.
