Se describen dos taxa nuevos para la ciencia: Polypodium castaneum Maxon ex Tejero y P. colpodes var. venezuelense Tejero. Se proponen dos combinaciones nuevas: P. arcanum Maxon var. bakeri (Davenp.) Mickel et Tejero y P. colpodes Kunze var. oligomeron (H. Christ) Tejero. El nombre P. fuscopetiolatum A. R. Sm. se coloca en la sinonimia de P. colpodes Kunze. Se presenta una clave de identificación, así como la descripción y datos de la distribución geográfica de los ocho taxa neotropicales ligados a P. colpodes Kunze.
