Abstract

Este artigo analisa de forma comparativa dois contos do escritor Horacio Quiroga, “Yaguaí” e “O mel silvestre”, ambos pertencentes à obra Contos de amor de loucura e de morte, publicada em 1917. A análise em questão demonstra como o escritor desenvolve nesses contos uma poética a meio caminho entre o ser humano e a natureza, cuja potência criativa advém em grande medida de experiências trágicas que ecoam a biografia de seu autor. Quiroga propõe em seus contos, de forma vanguardista na América Latina, uma prosa aguda sobre os dramas vivenciados pelos seres que compartilham um mesmo planeta e representam diferentes realidades em conflito, valorizando o papel da natureza nesse espaço de lutas e resistência.
