Abstract

Nas regiões tropicais, estima-se que a fauna de artrópodes no dossel seja pelo menos duas vezes mais rica do que no solo; no entanto a distribuição dos insetos em relação ao dossel permanece quase desconhecida em grandes áreas contínuas de floresta. Assim, este estudo teve como objetivo comparar a abundância da fauna de insetos em dois estratos vegetais de um fragmento urbano. O dossel apresentou maior abundância das ordens Lepidoptera e Neuroptera, enquanto Hymenoptera e Blattodea foram mais abundantes no sub-bosque. Não houve diferença na abundância de Diptera, Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Orthoptera e Psocoptera. Os resultados sugerem que algumas ordens de insetos têm uma estratificação bem definida, o que explica a complexidade e a particularidade de cada estrato vegetal.
