This article examines the dynamics of archaic vocabulary retention as an instrument of local cultural integration in the Muna community amidst massive external linguistic pressure. Emphasizing a qualitative approach centered on the subject's experience and memory, this study analyzes the language defense ecosystem using MAXQDA 24 software. The results of matrix mapping and Code Co-occurrence indicate that the Muna community has a solid Vocabulary Retention Capacity, where archaic terms function as anchors of identity and binders of group solidarity. However, the findings reveal a paradox of vitality: this high memory retention is inversely proportional to the very minimal frequency of daily use, so that archaic vocabulary tends to be quarantined in specific and sacred memory retrieval contexts. This vulnerability is exacerbated by high linguistic pressure that triggers internal vocabulary erosion. As a defense mechanism, the community relies on the Cultural Integration Mechanism that synergizes the internalization of values, solidarity, and identity symbols. Furthermore, media adaptation proves to be the most crucial resistance strategy to stem the erosion of meaning. In conclusion, the continuity of Muna culture in the contemporary era demands adaptive synergy between cultural integration mechanisms at the grassroots level and the use of public spaces and digital media, in order to transform ancient vocabulary from mere passive memory artifacts into living discursive practices.
