Abstract

ENTRE DETERMINISME HISTORIQUE ET CHOIX STRATEGIQUES Une analyse des dynamiques de pouvoir sino-américaines Par Bissay Bi Ngidjol Inocent étudiant en relation internationale et études stratégiques Février 2026 Résumé Le présent article examine l'application du théorème de Thucydide aux relations internationales contemporaines, en particulier dans le contexte de la rivalité sino-américaine du 21ème siècle. Popularisé par Graham Allison, ce concept suggère qu'une puissance émergente qui menace de déplacer une puissance établie génère un risque structurel de conflit majeur. À travers une analyse critique de la littérature académique et des développements géopolitiques récents, cet article évalue la pertinence de ce cadre théorique pour comprendre les dynamiques de pouvoir actuelles. Nous examinons les arguments en faveur et contre l'application de ce modèle, les facteurs de différenciation du 21ème siècle qui pourraient modifier les prédictions historiques, et les stratégies potentielles pour éviter une escalade conflictuelle. L'étude conclut que si le théorème de Thucydide offre des perspectives analytiques précieuses, son déterminisme doit être tempéré par la reconnaissance des spécificités contemporaines, notamment l'interdépendance économique, les menaces transnationales et les institutions multilatérales.
