This review synthesizes the findings from previously published research papers and reports to provide a comprehensive understanding on ecological intensification of agriculture. Different approaches to agricultural intensification focus on different aspects of sustainability and how it should be measured. It is necessary to dissect many ideas on the qualifiers of intensification (ecological, sustainable, durable, etc.). The conceptual distinctions between ecological and sustainable intensification as they relate to the balance between agriculture and nature are examined in this paper, along with how these terms are utilized in research, development, policy, and industry. The study contrasts various discourses on intensification models that differ in how nature is included into the systems' real design.
