Survival is the sole purpose of living organisms. To survive, organisms must possess survival capabilities. Unlike non-living entities, autonomy is the core mechanism by which organisms uphold their purpose of survival and exert their survival abilities. The survival of organisms is not merely a matter of existence, but a manifestation of autonomy driving the exercise of survival capabilities with survival as the goal. The living environment and resources available to organisms are limited, while their reproduction tends toward unlimited growth. This obvious contradiction inevitably leads to competition for survival among organisms. To survive, organisms can only respond to competition by enhancing their survival capabilities, and innovation driven by autonomy is the only way to improve these capabilities. Biological innovation includes modifying biological codes to alter or strengthen physiological structures, cooperation among individuals, and the utilization of natural laws, among other methods. Biological evolution is the process by which organisms achieve self-transformation through innovation that enhances their survival capabilities.
