Abstract

German Abstract: Erfahrungswissenschaften erzeugen Wissen uber die erfahrbare Welt, das haufig neue Hand-lungsspielraume eroffnet. Ob und wie diese Handlungsspielraume genutzt werden sollen, kann mit den Mitteln der Erfahrungswissenschaften aber nicht bestimmt werden. Hierzu sind normative Ethiken notwendig, aus denen sich Handlungsziele ableiten lassen. Da kein allgemeiner Konsens besteht, welche normative Ethik die richtige ist, werden solche Handlungsziele in demokratisch verfassten Rechtstaaten nach offentlichen Debatten durch die Parlamente in Form von Gesetzen festgelegt. Damit solche Debatten moglich sind, mussen die erfahrungswissenschaftlichen Hand-lungsspielraume so prasentiert werden, dass die normativen Fragestellungen erkennbar werden. In den Wirtschaftswissenschaften befasst sich das Teilgebiet der Wohlfahrtsokonomik mit dieser Aufgabe. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Uberblick uber die Geschichte der Wohlfahrtsokonomik von ihren utilitaristischen Anfangen bis zur Gegenwart. English Abstract: This article discusses the role of normative ethics in economics. First, the general relationship between empirical sciences and normative ethics is discussed. Then it is analysed, how welfare economics tries to make the description of market processes accessible for a judgment by different normative ethics.
