Spanish Abstract: Redactado para el Diccionario Historico de Derecho Canonico en Hispanoamerica y Filipinas (DCH), este trabajo ofrece una vision sintetica de las presunciones centrada en el desarrollo historico de la figura, en su definicion y sus clases y en las reglas relativas a su utilizacion. El trabajo incluye un panorama de la utilizacion del razonamiento presuntivo y las presunciones en las Indias y finaliza con un balance historiografico. English Abstract: Written for the Historical Dictionary of Canon Law in Hispanic America and the Philippines (DCH), this work synthesizes on the historical development of the legal concept of presumptions, its definition, its variants and its usage rules. The work surveys the use of presumptive reasoning and presumptions in the Indies, and it ends by taking stock of the historiography.
