English Abstract: This article synthesizes the topic of pharmaceutical prescription quality measurement. In contemporary medicine, the interaction between physicians and drug companies´ reps affects the clinical judgement regarding prescribing decisions, and contributes to lead to the problem of income-driven inappropriate prescriptions. With a risk of unnecessary care, overprescription, polypharmacy, or avoidable adverse effects. This conflict of interest erodes the trust the patients have in relation to their doctors, negatively influences the degree of compliance with standards of quality-of-care and augments the cost of prescribing because the prescribing preferences usually favor brand-name, high-priced new pharmaceuticals in lieu of cheaper, therapeutically equivalent, alternatives.
